Moving Towards Zero Waste Pilot Project with Christ Church Anglican:

Hello All,

The Moving Towards Zero Waste  (MTZW) effort at the church was of great value.

I have to ponder this a bit, and I’ll have some recommendations for the church and our Friends of Waste Reduction (FOWR) group.

I’d like to find out a bit more about the Green Team at Christ Church.

Maybe one of us should be on that team; if it they want us & it fits with church policy.

I can see now why they say visiting groups are their Achilles heel. For FOWR, it will be a gift.

Using Christ Church as our pilot project was very fortuitous.

The MTZW project impact will be much broader through the church; a perfect community access point. YEA!

Be well, Lindy Iversen

Who are we?

We are Friends of Waste Reduction (FOWR), a volunteer group connected with the Development & Environmental Services Department of the Municipality of Meaford.

Our aims:

  1. To work in harmony with the municipality on waste reduction, and
  2. To create, test & implement inspiring & practical initiatives that support waste redirection & reduction; initiatives that may be voluntarily embraced by groups, businesses, churches & event organizers.

We are a non-political, non-confrontational grass-roots team, founded on the benefits of taking action to help turn our waste stream into a resource stream.

This is a journey of moving towards zero waste; we welcome others to join in and support this journey.

Why did we seek out Christ Church Anglican to be our pilot project partner in the development of the Moving Towards Zero Waste Recognition Program?

It is very important to work with an environmentally mindful group as we develop this public recognition program.

The Christ Church Anglican congregation shines in the community as an example of working in positive & concrete ways to do its part in taking care of our environment. Your existing recycling and composting efforts complement our aims. We’re developing a ‘good, better, best’ public recognition program that will draw attention to community leaders, like Christ Church Anglican. ──  An inspiration to others.

Thank you for your willingness to be part of this partnership. We look forward to a productive association.

Respectfully submitted,

Lindy Iversen

Website Articles Needed: If you have something you want to say about the Church, our faith or the Anglican Church in today’s world. If you have something of a historical nature for our website…stories or old photos or memories of events past. If you would like to feature a parishioner who gave their all to Christ Church, then PLEASE submit your articles to Viv at meafordchristchurch@rogers.com. Our website is only as good as the people and places it reflects. We want you to know that these articles don’t replace our newsletter Tidings, but enhance the flow of ideas and information each month.

Children's Choir: The Children’s Choir of Christ Church Anglican will be singing together on Tuesdays from 5:15 to 6:15 and would love you to come. Boys and girls aged 7 to 13 are welcome. We rehearse once a week on Tuesdays, and sing monthly on Sundays. There is no membership fee, and no requirement for previous musical experience. The choir will also enjoy an occasional pizza party and other special events. For more info contact Leslie Byrd at leslieterrybyrd@rogers.com or 613-483-9433 or 613-484-4186.
